Department of Education, Science and Training (DEST)
The Department of Education, Science and Training (DEST) has established a website to assist Australian researchers to collaborate with their Chinese counterparts. Both the Governments of Australia and China recognise the importance of bilateral scientific collaboration to the research community. The website provides a range of information including funding opportunities, Chinese institutions and current news and events.

Melbourne Research Office
Collaborative Research Program
The Melbourne Research Office, through its Collaborative Research Grants program provides funding to support visits by scholars from international universities to the University for periods of up to 12 months, and to foster collaborative research with colleagues in international universities. In both cases priority is given to proposals that involve collaboration with a university with which the University has a formal agreement for academic cooperation and exchange, including members of Universitas 21.

Melbourne Scholarships Office
The University is committed to providing as many students as possible with the opportunity to undertake part of their studies at an international university. The following programs are available for this purpose:
Undergraduate Students
The Melbourne Abroad Scholarships Program for undergraduate students is a key tool in fostering the exchange of students and developing the University's formal bilateral relationships. Students who are selected to undertake an exchange at one of the University's partner universities, including members of Universitas 21, are automatically considered for a Melbourne Abroad Scholarship. A grant of of up to $2000 is made to successful applicants. The amount depends on the duration of their overseas study. Students may apply for additional funding for special circumstances.
Postgraduate Students
Two university-funded schemes are open to postgraduate students. Both provide opportunities to foster collaboration with international partners.
Postgraduate Overseas Research Experience Scholarships enable PhD and other research doctorate students to gain international experience as part of their research higher degree training. Grants of up to $5,000 are available, with an expectation that the funding will be matched from departmental or faculty research funds.
The Melbourne Abroad Scholarships Scheme assists PhD and other research doctorate students to travel overseas to conduct research related to their thesis. Grants are provided up to $1,250.

Macgeorge Fellowships and Honorary Fellowships
The Macgeorge Bequest Committee of Management invites nominations from departments/divisions of The University of Melbourne for the presitious Macgeorge Fellowships and Honorary Fellowships. Nominees should be artisits, performers, writers or researchers in the visual, creative and performing arts, music, architecture, conservation, literature, creative writing, language, history, philosopy and anthropology.
Successful Macgeorge Fellows and Macgeorge Honorary Fellows will be given accommodation at historic "Ballangeich" for 4-8 weeks to undertake an uninterrupted period of research, writing or creative endeavour. Macgeorge Fellows will receive also a contribution to travel and living expenses, and will be invited to deliver a public lecture/performance at the University.

Universitas 21
Universitas 21 Fellowships and Scholarships
The Universitas 21 Fellowship Selection Committee invites applications for the 2008 round of Universitas 21 Fellowships (for academic staff) and Universitas 21 Scholarships (for general staff). Successful candidates will be funded to spend up to two months in 2008 engaged overseas in a teaching/management project and professional development at Universitas 21 institutions.
