Association of Pacific Rim Universities (APRU)

The University of Melbourne has been admitted as the 37th member of the Association of Pacific  Rim Universities (APRU). The main objective of APRU is to promote scientific, educational and cultural collaboration among Pacific Rim economies.

Melbourne is the third Australian member, along with the Australian National University and the University of Sydney.

The International Relations Office has created a new web page dedicated to providing the University community with up to date information on the activities of APRU. In addition the site also provides information on the University's participation in the various activities. Endeavour Programme

The Endeavour Programme is an Australian Government initiative, bringing together under the one umbrella all DEST international scholarships. A prestigious scholarship program aimed at showcasing the excellence of Australia's education, science and training sectors, up to 10,000 scholarships will be offered from 2007-2011.  The Programme aims to bring high achieving students, researchers and professionals from the Asia-Pacific region and other regions to Australia to undertake short or long term study, research and professional development in a broad range of disciplines.  It also encourages Australians to do the same abroad.

Erasmus Mundus

The European Union's Erasmus Mundus (EM) program, launched in 2004-05, encourages students and staff from 'third countries' (including Australia) to study and work in European universities.  Funding for the program is significant: 230m euros for 2004-2008.  This funding is attached to selected EM Masters courses, offered by consortia of European universities and leading to the award of a joint degree.  Some 57 EM courses have been implemented to date.
